Managing Director, Underwriting
I have worked in the London Bloodstock insurance market since 1982 in broking, claims and, more recently, in underwriting. I have managed several Lloyd’s Syndicates’ Bloodstock portfolios. This has allowed me to develop relationships all over the world and I take pride in finding the right insurance solutions for our clients’ requirements, wherever they are located.

Senior Underwriter, Underwriting
I grew up in Ireland on the family stud farm. Breeding and rearing thoroughbreds is my passion and, following University, I spent several years building my knowledge by working on stud farms in the USA, Japan as well as back home in Ireland. I joined the Galileo team in 2015 to bring that knowledge to the insurance sector.

A Newcastle University graduate with a degree in Classical Studies. I have worked in the London Bloodstock market for the last 4 years in various roles and joined Galileo in August 2022. I’m keen event rider, having ridden to 2 Star/Intermediate, I feel this hands on experience with horses is hugely helpful in my role.

Claims Manager/Underwriter, Claims
I have 20 years’ experience of working in the London insurance market in many classes of business, and since 2008 I have held several roles in Bloodstock claims. I’m a keen rider and own two horses. I believe that this first-hand knowledge and passion for horses help to provide great insight and value in my role of adjusting and settling equine claims.

Chief Operations Officer, Operations
I have worked in the London Bloodstock insurance market since the early 1980s and most recently headed XL Group’s Global Equine underwriting team from 2009 – 2015. I joined Galileo in 2017 bringing the skills that I had acquired managing a worldwide book to ensuring that we meet all the required compliance responsibilities.

I am a qualified accountant and have worked for 18 years in the Bloodstock insurance industry. 12 of those were in IBA Accounting and in 2016 I moved to the underwriting side working alongside my colleagues as a specialist technical accountant.

Received a Business degree from the University of Louisville’s Equine Department and held an insurance license since 1996. I have worked for Bloodstock Agents, Insurance Agency and/or Insurance Company over 25 years, and have experience in Bloodstock Accounting, Management, Finance, Insurance, and Owner Relations.
Assistant Underwriter, Operations
I have been working in the London Bloodstock/livestock market for over 15 years including roles at Heath Lambert, Willis and Tysers. Within the Galileo team, I provide underwriting operations and technical support with a focus on managing and maintaining efficient processes.

An efficient and fair claims service is the basic expectation of any customer or broker seeking an insurance solution and Galileo is designed with an excellent claims service as a fundamental pillar. We deliver this through a number of underlying foundations.
The Galileo team is made up of experienced insurance professionals with an in-depth understanding of the industry. Everyone in the team takes pride in the work delivered by Galileo and are determined to ensure that Galileo is the aspirational model for claim services.
As well as being experts on the cover provided, we work closely with underwriters on product design so as to ensure that we can deliver the service promises made under our policies and that the coverage reflects the risks faced by customers in a constantly changing environment.
Specialist service providers
Where we use any external service provider such as a TPA, adjuster or lawyer we always vet their experience and monitor their performance using objective and transparent metrics and subjective quality assessments.
We recognise that most insurance claims arise following a stressful and often traumatic incident. We understand that the primary requirement for an insured customer is that the claim is resolved quickly and without unnecessary barriers.
Mindful of this, we aim to avoid irrelevant questions or seek information we already hold on file. We will acknowledge claims promptly and keep customers advised of progress. Our IT platform and process allows us to make payments far quicker than many of our competitors.
