DUAL launches Property Insurance in Benelux
A new milestone in DUAL’s specialty lines expansion strategy
DUAL announces the launch of its new Property proposition in Benelux, further expanding the company's specialty lines. The new line of business focuses on Mid-Market and High Hazard, offering specialised capacity for commercial and industrial risks in the Dutch market.
Following Germany, this launch marks the first phase of DUAL’s broader European Property strategy, which is being rolled out in stages with the goal of building a leading underwriting platform for Property risks. The Dutch market is a strategic focus area due to its strong broker relationships, established co-insurance market, and growing demand for specialist capacity for complex Property risks.
DUAL Property will operate as a technical capacity partner within co-insurance programs and selected broker facilities. The proposition combines specialist underwriting with integrated risk engineering to give brokers access to consistent capacity for both Mid-Market and more complex High Hazard risks, where market capacity is becoming increasingly scarce.
The rollout of the new proposition is led by Edwin Gout, Lead Underwriter Property, DUAL Benelux. With more than 30 years of experience in the commercial and industrial fire insurance market, he has extensive expertise in both Mid-Market and High Hazard risks. Throughout his career, Edwin has specialised in assessing and placing complex industrial risks, with technical underwriting, risk engineering, and portfolio management at the core. His experience includes manufacturing companies, logistics complexes, plastics and wood-processing industries, and other risks with elevated fire and business-continuity exposure. Through his in-depth knowledge of the Dutch co-insurance market and his risk-driven approach, Edwin supports brokers in finding sustainable, market-conforming insurance solutions for challenging Property risks. Within DUAL, he combines technical underwriting discipline with pragmatic decision-making, allowing brokers to rely on fast and consistent support for complex placements.
"We see a clear need in the Dutch market for a specialist Property partner that combines consistent capacity with technical underwriting expertise. By closely linking underwriting and risk engineering, we can support brokers in achieving sustainable solutions for their clients, including within the more complex segments of the market", highlighted Edwin Gout.
The new Property proposition focuses, among other things, on industrial and commercial risks within the Mid-Market segment, as well as carefully selected High Hazard risks such as manufacturing companies, recycling activities, wood processing, and other fire-prone sectors. In addition, DUAL will participate in selected broker facilities to build a diversified and stable portfolio.
With an underwriting approach based on COPE factors (Construction, Occupancy, Protection & Exposure), Hazard Grading, and risk engineering, DUAL places emphasis on risk quality, prevention, and long-term partnerships. This approach enables the organisation to carefully assess risks and deploy capacity in a targeted way.
"The expansion into Property fits perfectly with our strategy of giving brokers access to specialist solutions within attractive niche markets. With an experienced underwriting team, strong distribution partners, and a clear focus on underwriting discipline, we are confident that DUAL Property will quickly establish a relevant position in the Dutch market." added Frank Masteling, Managing Director, DUAL Benelux.
DUAL will distribute its Property solutions through a select network of professional brokers and will focus on sustainable collaborations with parties active in the commercial and industrial insurance market.
