DUAL strengthens Title & Legal Indemnity capabilities with new international binder

New capacity enhances DUAL’s ability to support complex cross-border transactions through increased limits and broader geographical reach.

DUAL’s Title & Legal Indemnity business has signed a new international binder offering increased policy limits and greater geographical reach across the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. The capacity is led by AXA XL, and backed by Liberty, Chaucer, Axis and Intact.

The new binder offers capacity of up to £320 million for a single real estate risk and combines comprehensive policy wordings with an expert, solution-driven underwriting approach. Its cross-disciplinary structure enables multi-line insurance that supports the full range of brokers' and clients' M&A insurance needs.

DUAL’s Title & Legal Indemnity insurance offering is well established with over 13 years of trading, and forms part of its wider Transactional Risk offering, launched earlier this year. Dave Persaud, who joined DUAL in October 2025 and became International Head of Title & Legal Indemnity at the start of 2026, has responsibility for driving growth in the key markets of the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Richard Clapham, CEO, DUAL Group, said: “Our ambition is to be the leading Title & Legal Indemnity business, and the launch of this international binder is an endorsement of that vision. It strengthens our position in the market and demonstrates the confidence our carrier partners place in our expertise, whilst also enhancing our offering through higher policy limits and broader geographic coverage.”

Paul Smith, Group Head of Transactional Risk at DUAL, said: “As M&A activity continues to rebound and transactions become more international in nature, we are seeing growing demand for specialist Title & Legal Indemnity insurance, particularly on complex and cross-border deals.

“By bringing our Transactional Risk capabilities even closer together and extending our geographic reach, we are well placed to deliver the consistent, specialist expertise that clients and brokers need in an increasingly international market. The unique breadth of our offering across five complementary product areas, including Title & Legal Indemnity, enables us to provide tailored solutions for a wide range of complex transactions and deliver exceptional support to clients and broker partners alike.”

Dave Persaud, International Head of Title & Legal Indemnity at DUAL, said: "This new binder is a significant milestone for our Title & Legal Indemnity business, reflecting the strength of the team we've built and the reputation we've established over many years. With one of the most experienced Title insurance teams in the market, combined with enhanced capacity and broader international reach, we can support clients and brokers with the flexibility and certainty they need.

“As Title & Legal Indemnity insurance becomes an increasingly important component of cross-border M&A and real estate transactions, we are exceptionally well placed to help our clients navigate risk and unlock opportunities across multiple markets."

Tariq Jawaheer, Head of Title Insurance, UK & Lloyd’s at AXA XL, said: "DUAL has built a strong reputation in this market and we're delighted to support them with their new international Title & Legal Indemnity binder.

“We are looking forward to working alongside the wider panel, helping brokers and clients access the expertise, flexibility and confidence they need to complete complex transactions successfully.”

Stephen Tompson Head of Supercoverholders at Liberty Specialty Markets, said: “As cross-border real estate and M&A transactions become increasingly complex, the need for specialist expertise and flexible underwriting capacity continues to grow. We are delighted to support DUAL's new international Title & Legal Indemnity binder, which brings together a strong panel of insurers and a highly experienced underwriting team to meet this evolving market requirement.”

Title & Legal Indemnity insurance protects buyers, lenders and investors against financial losses arising from defects, disputes or challenges to legal ownership of property or other assets. It is commonly used in corporate, real estate and infrastructure transactions to facilitate deals and manage transactional risk.

The business offers a broad range of products, including share and real estate Title insurance, legal indemnity, specific risk, rights of light and the online comparison platform, My Legal Indemnity Shop. Its underwriting team is spread across nine offices and six jurisdictions in the UK, Europe and ANZ, with the largest European underwriting team in the Title insurance market.
